SMCS is a comprehensive high school which provides A-level and AP educational programs. SMCS was founded in 2017 and is a private, co-educational boarding school serving high school students in grades 9-12.

The SMCS US program is partnered with Springfield Commonwealth Academy in Massachusetts and serves as the SCA Shanghai campus. In addition to the American curriculum from SCA, SMCS also designs its own bespoke courses for local students in a local context. Our UK A Level courses are based on Edexcel, AQA, and Cambridge International Education standards. Students who finish these courses and pass examinations will receive an A-level certification, which is widely recognised by universities around the world.

Our curriculum aims to broaden students ‘ educational experience and challenge them to develop their own philosophy and values. Students are encouraged to include project-based learning in their subject studies and achieve not only academic mastery but also develop problem-solving and leadership skills.

Flexibility is one of the key strengths of an SMCS education, and we take great pride in helping each student find the path to success that is right for them. We welcome students who exhibit exceptionalism in non-traditional areas such as sports, arts, and music, and provide rigorous yet open schedules to accommodate their practice and development in those areas.
